Really enjoyable stay!
“I stayed in the Keron hostel for 3 nights and I got to say that it's one of the best hostels I've ever stayed in. It's modern, clean, the rooms are very nice and you've got all the comfort you need (sockets, a sink in the room...). Just be aware of the fact that there's nothing to lock your stuff in, it was absolutely not a problem since it's very safe and we didn't even lock our room during the day but it might come as a surprise if you're used to lockers in hostel rooms. The location of the stf station is perfect, 3 mins away from the train station, it's just by the lake so it's a short walk to go at night for the northern lights and all the guides come to pick you up at the reception. There's also a shop with quite a lot of things (warm clothes, hiking basics, food, souvenirs, hygiene products and a rental shop as well) so if you forgot anything well it won't be a problem! I'll definitely be back next year. ”
Keep your eyes open
“My second visit to Abisko. We kept our eyes open and saw a moose walk past. Down on the lake, we saw someone not paying attention fall into a hole in the ice. We were able to pull her out but it could have been fatal. We were blessed with claar blue skies. The day before the road to and from Norway had been closed by snow.”
Nice venue ! But some details needs polishing.
“A nice cabin! With a nice view to watch auroras. The experience was overall nice and the Sauna with a freezing cold outside of -26 was a great touch! Regarding pricing, I really disliked that they forced everybody to take the non-STF member fee, even if two of us were members. Because it's a cabin of 6 people they said. Why is the fee per person then? It's not for the 200SEK extra, I thought STF was about promoting some better tourism. So I should take my visiting friends to non-STF hotels because I lose my membership if I do then? We also encountered another pricing issue that we had to asked for twice to different person (imagine the embarrassment...) for the second one to recognise they chared 600SEK extra by mistake for a tour... The food is good, but they often run out and refill with whatever is available, changing the menu with less-matching things. We came two times this year and it happened for all lunchs except one. Similarly, the evening restaurant which is quite expensive run out of this and that. The price for the vegan option is the same as the meal, 290Sek, it's just crazy... I'm not vegan but if you don't like the meal it's the only other option, and that price for vegetables, well... Even hipsters do not do that... English translations are in general "lossy". It's not possible to get clearly what are the beds in the cabins. It's painful because you have to take the linens with you ... or pay for it. Maybe that's on purpose then? So the exact list is (at least for our cabin) : 2 simple twin beds in one room, and 2*2 superposed beds in the other room, with one of the bottom bed larger (120cm I'd say), the other 3 beds being simple beds. See? It was not that difficult... ”
Amazing spot !
“This place is amazing. We went there during winter to see the Northern Lights. The hotel is very cosy, clean and the personal is very kind. You can easily walk around the area and it's very close to the train station. ”
Old fashioned and therefor overprices
“Location of the accommodation is great Friendly staff The rooms are very old fashioned furnished and decorated Horrible bathroom with cheap equipment Toilet and shower in one room No toiletries you would expext for this price (only soapy body wash from a no brand.) For this price (240 euro’s) we could normally stay in a trendy decorated hotel with great facilities Breakfast buffet is very small No northern sweden atmosphere/style and/or local products used. Hotel deserves an upgrade created together with a good hotel concept designer! No it’s only the location why I would choose this hotel”
